EIBBSS is delighted to announce a new series of Regional Workshops for bands preparing for the 2027 Regional Championships.
Taking place at Routh Hall, Bromsgrove School, the workshops will offer players the opportunity to work intensively on their Regional test pieces with Musical Director Paul Holland and a team of highly experienced EIBBSS tutors.
The first workshop, on Sunday 10 January 2027, will be aimed at Third and Fourth Section players, while the second, on Sunday 31 January 2027, will focus on the First and Second Sections.
Each delegate will receive a half-day of specialist coaching and ensemble playing, concentrating on the musical and technical demands of the relevant Regional test piece.
Expert coaching across the band
Paul Holland will lead the ensemble sessions on both days, bringing his considerable experience as a conductor, educator and adjudicator to the preparation process.
For the Third and Fourth Section workshop on 10 January, Paul will be joined by:

The workshops are designed to give players the opportunity to examine their parts in detail with specialist tutors before bringing that work together in full-band sessions.
Rather than simply rehearsing through the test piece, delegates will be encouraged to explore the technical challenges, stylistic demands and musical decisions that can make the difference between simply playing the notes and delivering a convincing contest performance.
Get ahead of the Regional season
For many bands, the Regional Championships represent one of the most important events of the year. Effective preparation begins long before contest day, and the EIBBSS Regional Workshops are intended to help players approach that preparation with greater confidence and understanding.
Whether attending individually or alongside other members of their band, delegates will be able to take ideas, techniques and practical advice back into their own rehearsal rooms.
The emphasis will be on practical, supportive coaching and giving players a deeper understanding of what their test piece demands.
At just £40 per delegate, the workshops offer a highly accessible opportunity to work with some of the leading performers and educators in the brass band movement.
