Martyn Harris- Videographer

Martyn started playing Cornet at the age of 7 in the school brass group. Some 13 years later he joined Desford Colliery Dowty Band under Howard Snell and later James Watson and stayed for 15 years. During his stay with Desford Colliery Dowty Band Martyn was a member of the band winning the European Brass Band Championships in 1986 and four National Championship of Great Britain titles in succession from 1987-1991 (1990 the band were forced to take a year out having won the Hat-trick)along with many other titles. In Recent years he has been combining his musical skills with his job as a Film Director and Editor, collaborating with composers such as Paul Lovatt-Cooper and Philip Sparke on commissions from Carole Crompton and working alongside Black Dyke Band. Martyn has also worked on projects with Iwan Fox of 4Bars Rest. During the summer of 2019 Martyn’s work had a world premiere of “Explosion for Brass Band” by Paul Lovatt- Cooper for the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain. This music was composed for a film showcasing what a week on the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain course would be like. Martyn has worked with Paul Lovatt-Cooper and the Grimethorpe Youth band on a project funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music.

Martyn will be working with EIBBSS on Media where he will produce videos capturing highlights during the course.

Recent work has seen Martyn creating bitesize films for online learning for a number of schools in Shropshire and Leicestershire and a video project of 30 films for a international online resource for Universities based in Turkey.
