Steve Jones

Steve started his playing career in 1984 at the age of 9, joining Bream Silver Band in the Royal Forest Of Dean under the tutelage of local dance band drummer Dave Rudge. He then moved to Coleford Town Band for three years before being approached by championship section Flowers (Gloucester) Band in 1989.

Steve spent twenty one years at Flowers, winning eight West of England Championships and claiming the Grand Shield title on three occasions.
In 2010 he decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved over the Severn Bridge to Tredegar Town Band in Wales before joining the worlds No.1 ranked band Cory, where he has since performed at many of the UK’s and Europe’s top concert halls and recorded countless cd’s and broadcasts.

In 2016, he was part of the team at Cory that completed a historic ‘grand slam’ of major titles by claiming the European, British Open, UK National and Brass In Concert titles all in one calendar year (the only band in history to do so). This was a feat that Steve and Cory repeated once again in 2019!

Steve has toured Europe, Thailand, Australia and the USA on many occasions with Cory, Desford and Grimethorpe Colliery Bands and is a tutor of drums and percussion for both Glamorgan and Gloucestershire Music Services.
