0Following its premiere performance at the Bolsover International Summer School on Friday 26th July, the specially commissioned March, Bolsover Castle, will be made available for bands to purchase, with funds raised from sales going towards a new bursary fund being set up by the Summer School. 0Day 4 of the BIBBSS Course was a busy but very exciting day which included a trip to the historic National Trust property, Hardwick Hall for an afternoon concert in the blistering sunshine to an audience of thousands of tourists. The band was well received by a very enthusiastic audience and the delegates then enjoyed the ambience, iconic landscapes and historic buildings of Hardwick Hall and Hardwick Old Hall. The
0Day 3 has again been a day with lots of activity with highlights of a visit by Gordon Higginbottom who talked about his life as a musician and bandsman and his book “From Umchugs to Cadenzas” and a Masterclass by David Hirst on Test Piece Presentation which guided delegates through the process of test piece preparation giving the insight into what an adjudicator would be looking for in a performance.
0Today has been a great start to the Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School with record numbers taking part.
