Matthew Rigg is a percussionist and graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where he graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree in 2018.

Matthew was a member of the world-renowned Black Dyke Band where he won major titles including the British Open, National championships and European championships.

Alongside contesting, he made appearances on the Pyramid Stage, Glastonbury, as well as other major concert performances across Japan, Europe and the United States. More recently has toured Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore with Desford Band, and won the 2026 Grand Shield with Milnrow Band.

Alongside his brass band music, Matthew performs with the Jäger Maestros Oompah Band, entertaining audiences at a wide range of engagements, with highlights including performances in Abu Dhabi.

He has tutored and mentored percussionists in a wide-range of organisations including the National Children’s Band of Great Britain and continues to enjoy performing across brass, orchestral and popular music engagements.
