ELGAR INTERNATIONAL BRASS BAND SUMMER SCHOOL CELEBRATES 10 YEARS

The Elgar International Brass Band Summer School (EIBBSS) is pleased to announce their plans for the celebration of their 10th anniversary in July 2023. The brass summer school will take place in the impressive facilities at Bromsgrove School from Monday 24th July to Saturday 29th July inclusive and will feature the Cory Band alongside the EIBBSS delegates band in the grand finale concert.

Internationally renowned conductor Phillip Harper (Artistic Director) will lead the course and will be supported by Tutors, Mark Wilkinson and Roger Webster(cornet), Chris Thomas (trombone), Stephanie Binns (flugel), Daniel Thomas (Euphonium), Adam Bokaris (Euphonium), Les Neish (tuba), Steve Jones (Kit), and Gareth Hand (tuned percussion).

Carole Crompton (Course Director) commented “We are all looking forward to 2023 and are delighted that EIBBSS has such a strong and talented team to provide excellent tuition for our valued delegates”.

Mark Wilkinson (Lead Tutor) remarked “Our instrumental staff are top quality musicians, but we are also pleased that we have fantastic support staff such as Mark Spotswood who provides on-site Health & Safety throughout the course and Della Pearce our Pastorale care mentor”.

Although the course is intensive the main purpose is the enjoyment of the music, the challenge of new and unexplored repertoire, and, of course, meeting people with the same interests and making lasting friendships.

The course includes a mid-week outdoor concert, a delegates’ concert, a concert given by the course tutors, and the Grand Finale Concert on Saturday evening when the EIBBSS delegates will be joined by the Cory Band and Phillip Harper for the 10th Anniversary Celebration Concert in the Routh Hall, Bromsgrove School.

Both the tutor concert and the Grand Finale Concert will be recorded by World of Brass.
