Meet the EIBBSS Team 2022
2022 sees an outstanding tutor team to inspire delegates at this year’s Elgar International Brass Band Summer School.
The 9th Elgar International Brass Band Summer School (EIBBSS) course will return this year with a star line-up of tutors ably led by award winning conductor Paul Holland as Artistic Director.
This summer’s course will be held at the magnificent Malvern College, set in picturesque surroundings in the Worcestershire countryside from Sunday 24th July to Friday 29th July 2022.
The tutors for this year’s course include Mark Wilkinson who will once again lead the cornets, Chris Thomas, Principal Trombonist with the Cory Band again managing the trombones and Tuba virtuosi, Les Neish will lead the Tubas for his second year.
Our percussion team will once again be Steve Jones, of the Cory Band on kit and Gareth Hand, Black Dyke Band on Tuned Percussion ensuring all delegates needs are catered for.
Several exciting additions to this year’s course are Daniel Thomas (Euphonium/Baritone Tutor). Daniel is Principal Euphonium of the Black Dyke Band and is confirmed as featured soloist. Daniel will be assisted by Visiting Tutor, Adam Bokaris, Principal Euphonium of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band. Another Black Dyke star will be virtuosi Flugel Horn player Stephanie Binns (FlugelHorn/Tenor Horn Tutor) who joins the team in 2022 for the first time and is confirmed as one of the featured soloists on the Summer School course.
Award winning conductor Paul Holland heads the course as Artistic Director and will direct the full band rehearsals and concerts with an exciting repertoire of interesting and innovative works.
Carole Crompton, Course Director commented; “We are excited at the line-up for 2022. Our tutors are all World-Renowned artists/clinicians and we’re especially looking forward to welcoming Daniel Thomas, Stephanie Binns and Adam Bokaris for their first course as tutors and are looking forward to Paul Holland joining us as Artistic Director for 2022 with his wealth of experience.”
Looking to the future, the 2023 10th Anniversary Course promises to be a very exciting course which will be led by Philip Harper (Musical Director of the World No. 1 Cory Band) with highlights including a final concert shared with the Cory Band where Cory Band will perform a concert including a performance of a new concerto work commissioned by and featuring Daniel Thomas, composed by Judith Bingham. The delegates will perform following this and the concert will conclude with massed band items with EIBBSS and Cory Band. This will all be recorded live by World of Brass Play and streamed through their channel.
Best wishes,
EIBBSS Management Team
