Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School 2020 postponed until 2021 due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School (BIBBSS) are very sad to announce that the 2020 Summer School has been postponed until 2021 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The organisers reported that BIBBSS which was due to take place from the 19th to the 25th July 2020 at Shirebrook Academy School will now be postponed until 25th July to 30th July 2021.

The Organiser commented “Building on the success from 2019 and with a move to Shirebrook Academy, a new Super School on the edge of Shirebrook Derbyshire, we were hoping that 2020 would be our best Summer School to date with a trip organised to Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire for an outdoor concert but unfortunately due to government restrictions on public gatherings and the closure of all schools for the foreseeable future, it has meant that the Academy has reluctantly had to make the decision to postpone our summer school until 25th to 30th July 2021.

Steven Mead, Course Musical Director commented:
“I’m very sad we’ve had to postpone this year‘s Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School. We know that for many people this is a real highlight of the year, and we’ve all been looking forward to it, but of course in recent months there’s been growing concern that we may lose this year’s event because of the virus, and so it has turned out. The camaraderie that we enjoyed at last year‘s course was really something very special, with a quite brilliant final concert, so now we have to immediately begin planning for 2021 and we’ll endeavour to make this the best summer school we can make it.”
